Animal
At night I toss, turn, howl at the moon
Pills won't work and whiskey won't do
I shoot up outta that bed in a cold, cold sweat
There's just one thing this old dog can do
Jump that fence, break the chain loose
I've got the scent and I'm runnin' fast as I can
You're the silver bullet, one thing I need, and girl just like that...
You set me free
Free from the lonely, free from my cage
You're my release, my getaway
You've got the key
From the dead of night you reach deep inside
Girl you bring the animal out of me
You know how to calm my restlessness
Your loving eyes, your sweet caress
You've got the goods to tame this wild beast
Want me to sit, stay, roll over, play dead?
Any command girl, you're in my head
Your treats cure my lonesome heart disease
Scratch my itch
Bring me to my knees
Girl I'm beggin' you
To set me free
Free from the lonely, free from my cage
You're my release, my getaway
You've got the key
From the dead of night you reach deep inside
Girl you bring the animal out of me...
Jump into these clean sheets feelin' like a man
You give me that wink and nuzzle my chin
My leg gets to twitchin' and I'm revved back up again
Set me free
Free from the lonely, free from my cage
You're my release, my getaway
You've got the key
From the dead of night you reach deep inside
Girl you bring the animal out of me

Let's Get In It

Let's Get In It
I see a Range Rover runnin' with the keys left in,
sittin' out front of this Piggly Wig,
The owner's inside and we can run real quick
Let's get in it
Or there's a swimming hole on my daddy's farm
In the next county over, it ain't too far
Take our birthday suits and a couple of jars
Let's get in it
Honey we can sleep when we're dead
I see a mess of trouble up ahead
Let's get in where no one knows
You feel that tingle in your toes
That just means we're headed somewhere good
Let's get in it up to our necks
A little bit of crazy, a little bit of wreckless
Some folks say we can't but I think we should
Honey, this thing feels a lot like love
Let's get in it
There's a train that rollin' out of the yard
We could sleep right past the late shift guard
Hitch a ride in our own little private car
Or we could take a little trip of our own instead
Go home and slide in my big brass bed
Slip under the covers and over our heads
Let's get in it
Honey we can sleep when we're dead
I see a mess of trouble up ahead
Let's get in where no one knows
You feel that tingle in your toes
That just means we're headed somewhere good
Let's get in it up to our necks
A little bit of crazy, a little bit of wreckless
Some folks say we can't but I think we should
Honey, this thing feels a lot like love
Let's get in it

Between You & Me

Between You & Me
This ship's got holes
Sea legs on weary bones
Battle's left her worn, but she's still got sails
This trip ain't safe, in fact it's
killed better men
Still, won't keep me from trying, can't afford to fail
Cause it's all that I've got
And you're all that I need
I'm paying my penance for all the lonely, dark, and crooked deeds
But I've still got hope while I'm sailing this ocean in between:
Between right and wrong
Between good and gone
Between you and me
Some days it's smashing waves,
some days it's calm as death
Wish I could see your face, to know where I stand
This sea's a lonely place
You were my dry land
I'm just salt and a soul
But I used to be your man
Now this is all that I've got
And you're all that I need
I'm paying my penance for all the lonely, dark, and crooked deeds
But I've still got hope while I'm sailing this ocean in between:
Between right and wrong
Between good and gone
Between you and me
When you're this far gone
The winds of time are blowing so strong
Turning back just ain't a choice
Cause you're in my head
I'm holding on to every word that you said
And now I just follow your voice
So I'll point that compass north
Keep my scope on the horizon
I'm gonna make it home
I hope you know that I'm tryin'...
Now this is all that I've got
And you're all that I need
I'm paying my penance for all the lonely, dark, and crooked deeds
But I've still got hope while I'm sailing this ocean in-between:
Between right and wrong
Between good and gone
Between you and me

Smoking Gun

Smoking Gun
Ashes were rainin' down in Grafton
Fallin' from the hottest blaze to ever wake this sleepy town
Poor girl, papers claimed she never made it
Husband claimed he couldn't save her cause his old truck went and broke down
He didn't see it comin' till he heard the people scream...
"Wake up the world's on fire
She's gone and someone's a liar
Everybody's talkin', everybody knows what went down
Wake up they're comin' for you
They know about the gas can, gathered all the proof
And you've got 25 to Life to try and figure it out
When all was said and done
You're left holdin' the smoking gun"
Cause the truth is, that city slicker had a loose fist
With the tendency to hit and run to the arms of another sin
When that old house was quiet, it left her to her own devices
So she spent it pourin' fuel on the flames of her sweet revenge
Hell hath no fury, like a woman with a plan
And she was singin'...
"Wake up the world's on fire
She's gone and someone's a liar
Everybody's talkin' Everybody knows what went down
Wake up they're comin' for you
They know about the gas can, gathered all the proof
And you've got 25 to Life to try and figure it out
When all was said and done
You're left holdin' the smoking gun"
Some folks swore they saw her the day they put her in her grave
Said she was standin' on the ridge with a big smile on her face
No matter the truth, God knows she's in a better place
Wake up the world's on fire
She's gone and someone's a liar
Everybody's talkin' but does anybody know what went down?
Wake up they're comin' for you
They know about the gas can, gathered all the proof
And you've got 25 to Life to try and figure it out
When all was said and done
(What goes around has finally come)
When all was said and done
You're left holdin' the smoking gun

Makes No Difference

Makes No Difference
I've seen tough and I've seen desperate,
Ain't much difference 'tween the two
The strong man fights to hide the pain
The week one knows is true
You can shoot to kill or get down on your knees
Makes no difference to me
I've had wives and I've had girlfriends, and I lost 'em in the war
A campaign of self destruction I don't fight much any more
I've seen movers, I've seen shakers, widowers and widowmakers
Fate's a bitch, she'll tell you who to be
Makes no difference to me
If you know me, I ain't one to knock
If you're cheatin', you better use a lock
Cause my shotgun, he ain't one to talk
Someone had to make 'em pay, and you might disagree
But that makes no difference to me
I've been told that I should write the stories of my life
Put those evil things I've done right there in black and white
But there ain't no pens or paper here in cell block 33
And that makes no difference to me
Cause if you know me, I ain't one to knock
If you're cheatin', you better use a lock
Cause my shotgun, he ain't one to talk
They were on their way to hell, I just helped 'em get some speed
But that makes no difference to me
Cause if you know me, I ain't one to knock
And if you're cheatin', you better use a lock
Cause my shotgun, he ain't one to talk
Behind these walls as high as Jesus, only death can set me free
And that makes no difference to me
Yeah, that makes no difference
